Inspect Clearance

Inspect the following clearances before disassembling the cylinder block:
1. Connecting rod thrust clearance
 
2. Connecting rod oil clearance
    Use a Plastigage to measure the oil clearance.
 
 
Selection of bearing
    There are several sizes of connecting rod bearing.
Replace a bearing with the identical size of bearing. To allow this, each bearing and connecting rod bearing cap has a size mark on it.
 
3. Crankshaft thrust clearance
 
HINT:
Inspect the crankshaft thrust clearance after removing the piston with connecting rod.
