2. Brush and slip ring
(1) The brushes and slip rings are installed on the rear end of the rotor shaft. They form part of the electrical circuit that allows current flow through the rotor coil and the magnetic field strength to be regulated.
(2) Generally, the brushes are made of metal graphite to decrease the electric resistance and contact resistance and provide a long service life by resisting wear well.
