Install Timing Chain

4. Check timing mark alignment

After installing the chain tensioner slipper and the chain tensioner, rotate the crankshaft through two turns clockwise to make sure the pulley timing marks are aligned.

 
NOTICE:
If the timing chain is installed in the wrong position, the valve opening and closing timing will be offset. Depending on the engine, the pistons and valves may be damaged, preventing the crankshaft from turning.
Turn the crankshaft slowly.
Do not apply excessive force when it becomes difficult to turn the crankshaft.
If the timing marks are offset after turning the crankshaft for two rotations, reinstall the timing chain again.
