Inspect the following camshaft areas:
1.
Check shaft runout
Place the camshaft on V-blocks and use a dial gauge to measure the deflection.
2.
Check cam lobe height
3.
Check journal diameter
HINT:
•
A worn cam lobe generates loud hitting sounds and prevents the valve from being opened and closed with the proper timing.
•
If the value exceeds the specified value, replace the camshaft.
