Inspect Alternator Holder with Rectifier

Click on the underlined sentence.

1.
(1) Use the diode test mode in the electrical tester.
(2) Measure between the terminal B of the rectifier and terminals P1 to P4, then reversing the polarity of the tester lead, and check that there is continuity in one direction only.
(3) Change the connection of terminal B to terminal E and repeat the inspection procedure is the same manner as the above.

HINT:
Charging circuit
The alternator generates alternating current, but since vehicles use direct current, the alternating current must be converted into direct current.
The device that converts current is the rectifier.
Rectifiers convert alternating current into direct current using diodes.
A diode passes current only one way. Therefore, the internal power of an electrical tester can be used to check the direction of current flow through a diode.
