| Inspect contact between
valve and valve seat |

Thinly apply Prussian blue (or white lead) around the valve
face circumference. |

Push the valve against the valve seat. |
| (3) |
Check the Prussian blue (or white lead) that adhered to the
valve face. |

| To conduct this inspection,
check contact width and position. |
| If the contact width
on the valve seat is too large, carbon will easily adhere to the
valve and degrade the seal. |
| Conversely, if the contact
width on the valve seat is too small, unequal wearing that forms
a step around the valve will result. |

| NOTICE: |

Do not apply too much Prussian blue (or white lead). |
| • |
Do not rotate the valve while it remains pressed
against the valve seat. |
| • |
Proper inspection cannot be performed if the valve is bent
or the valve guide bushing oil clearance is too large. |
