Piston ring end gap
|
| Use the piston to push the piston
ring into the cylinder, make the ring horizontal, and then use a thickness gauge
to take a measurement at the specified position, which is the position where the
ring wear is least. |

If this end gap is too large, compression pressure
will leak from the gap.

|
If this end gap is too small, when the piston
ring expands, its junction and/or the inner walls of the cylinder could be damaged
by contact of the end gap.
