3. Starter armature insulation and continuity check
Using an electrical tester, conduct the following inspections.
• Insulation between the commutator and the armature core.
 
• Continuity between the segments of the commutator.
HINT:
Each segment of the commutator is connected via the armature coil. In a servicable armature there should be continuity between the segments of the commutator.
