Insulation between the brush lead (group A) and
the starter yoke.
HINT:
•
The brush lead consists
of 2 groups; one is connected to the lead wire (group A) and the
other is connected to the starter yoke (group B).
•
Check continuity in the
lead wire and all the brush leads. The 2 brush leads which have
continuity belong to group A and the 2 brush leads which have no
continuity belong to group B.
•
Checking continuity between
the brush lead and the lead wire will help to determine whether
a open-circuit has occurred in the field coil.
•
Checking insulation between
the brush lead and the starter yoke will help to determine whether
a short-circuit has occurred in the field coil.
