| Check the condition of the slip ring. |

The slip ring and brushes are in constant contact to allow the generated current to flow to the rectifier. |

Any arcing at this contact will eventualy damage this contact point. |

Any damage will interfere with the electric current and prevent the alternator from operating properly |

Cleaning |
| Using a cloth and soft bristle brush, clean the slip ring and rotor. If the slip ring is burnt or scored (unservisable), replace the rotor assembly. |
