Refrigeration System
Evaporator
| 1. |
Function
| The evaporator evaporates the mist refrigerant, which is now a low-temperature, low-pressure gas via the expansion valve and cools the air stream around the evaporator. |
| 2. |
Construction
| This consists of a tank, tubes and cooling fins. The tubes penetrate through a number of cooling fins and form minute passages for good conductivity. |
| 3. |
Operation
The blower motor fan forces air across the evaporator. The refrigerant removes the heat of evaporation from the air stream and absorbs this heat to remain as a gas.
As the air that has passed the evaporator cools, the moisture in the air condenses and forms water droplets on the cooling fins. These moisture droplets fall into the drain pan and are drained away from the vehicle through the drain hose. |
