Engagement mechanism
|
| After the leading edges of the pinion gear and the ring gear come into contact with each other by the pull-in action of the magnetic switch, the magnetic switch drive spring compresses. This allows the main contacts to switch and the armature drive force increase. Part of the drive (rotational) force is converted into a thrust by the helical spline to push the pinion gear into engagement with the ring gear. In summary, the pinion gear engages with the ring gear by a combination of the pull-in force of the magnetic switch, the rotating force of the armature and a thrust force from the helical spline. |
