Removal

Remove Components from Under Vehicle

SST (Drive shaft nut chisel)
Lock nut
Axle hub

Remove drive shaft
(1)
Position the drive shaft’s groove at the top.
(2)
Using SST and a hammer, unstake the lock nut.
 
(3)
Remove the lock nut.
HINT:
One person should apply the brake to hold the drive shaft while the other person loosens the lock nut.
 
(4)
Remove the lower arm from the axle hub.
(5)
While lightly pulling the axle hub outward from the vehicle, disengage the drive shaft by tapping the end of it lightly with a plastic hammer, and disconnect the drive shaft from the axle hub.
NOTICE:
•
Conduct the work after removing the ABS speed sensor.
•
Be careful not to damage the drive shaft boots and speed sensor rotor.
•
Do not damage the drive shaft threads.
