1. Construction and Function
(1) Clutch pedal depressed
The piston is moved to the left via the push rod when the clutch pedal is depressed.
The brake fluid in the cylinder flows through the inlet valve to the reservoir and at the same time to the release cylinder.
When the piston moves further to the left, the connecting rod is separated from the spring retainer, and the inlet valve closes the passage into the reservoir by the conical spring, as a result, a build up of a hydraulic pressure in chamber A occurs which is transmitted to the release cylinder piston.
SERVICE HINT:
If air is mixed into the fluid line, air can be compressed and sufficient hydraulic pressure and release cylinder travel is not generated. This causes poor clutch operation and difficult gear selection.
