Measure side gear backlash |
|
First stabilize the differential case
by holding it in a vise between aluminium plates. Then measure the backlash.

NOTICE:
Do not tighten the vise excessively. |

Adjust backlash |
|
If the measured backlash differs
from the specified value, select another thrust washer to adjust
the backlash.

HINT:
If the measured backlash value is large, select
a thicker washer to adjust the backlash. Likewise, if the measured
backlash value is small, select a thinner washer to adjust the backlash. |
