Check insulation between slip ring and rotor |
| Using an electrical tester, inspect the insulation
between the slip ring and the rotor. |

Between the slip ring and rotor there exists an insulated state that prevents electric current. |
|
•
|
If the coil in the rotor is shorted, current will flow between the coil and the rotor. |
|
•
|
Checking the continuity between the slip ring and the rotor ensures good insulation and that there is no short circuit in the coil. |
|

|
If a problem is found in the insulation and/or
continuity check, replace the rotor. |
